Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring is a mix of fibre board and melamine resin with a photograph printed on it, then covered in a clear, durable top coat. The flooring comes in thin tongue and groove planks that can be textured to feel like real wood, or be smooth.

The top coat is durable and the planks themselves are very dense making them extremely hard to dent or damage, unlike regular hardwood floor. Laminate can be stuck to the floor if it has an adhesive backing but, the more popular installation is to float the floor over a soft underpad. Using underpad with laminate is important because it makes the floor softer, quieter and adds insulation.
