Hardwood is the most popular choice in high end home building and renovations because it gives the most classic, elegant look out of any floor.

When it comes to insulation properties, hardwood is warmer than tile, LVT, and laminate but, not as warm as carpet. Wood species determines the grain and hardness of hardwood which will in turn determine how prone it is to denting. However, the durability to light scratching is determined by the clear coat.

There are two types of hardwood floors: solid, and engineered. As the name suggests, a solid is simply a solid cut plank of wood. Engineered has plys that alternate grain direction which make the wood less prone to shrinking or expanding when the moisture and temperature change.
